Every year during the holidays, we like to make some sort of modest donation to charity. This year we decided to donate to WEAVE, the local domestic violence prevention center (http://www.weaveinc.org/). (As many of you know, Rachel volunteered in a domestic violence restraining order clinic for several years.)
Rachel and Hazel went to Costco today and shopped for some of the things on WEAVE's wishlist (household items such as laundry detergent, dryer sheets, cleaning supplies, etc. for use in its shelter), and then drove to WEAVE to drop them off. While at WEAVE, Rachel asked one of the employees to take a picture of her and Hazel. Although Hazel is too young now to remember and understand this trip, we hope that we can show her this picture in the future to inspire her charitable spirit!
PS: If you have ever wondered why in the world a woman would stay with someone who was abusive, check out this website: http://www.declasi.org/legaltopics/dv/womenstay.html

i think she looks best in her Santa outfit (or at least a Santa's helper). Did she wear that to Costco?
Love Dad
What a nice idea. And Hazel got to be involved.
I hope all of Hazel's fans follow her lead and make charitable donations this holiday season. And don't forget those "random acts of kindness" for strangers.
